Hickory is was the PERFECT choice for this client. This family is a huge part of the rogue valley community and this space really speaks to their larger than life influence.
Hickory is BEAUTIFUL. It really does have a personality all its own. Dark, light, loud and quiet... as well as it being one of the HARDEST of all the wood species. You really couldn't ask for a better material to build cabinetry with; if hickory could speak, it would be the loudest voice in the room, commanding respect while still making sure you feel welcomed.
Client Story
“The tragedy of losing their home became an opportunity to create something they've always wanted and deserved.”
This family runs a local Christmas Tree Farm here in the Rogue Valley. They lost their home to a fire that was caused by a 4th of July accident. They were so involved in the community, it was amazing to see everyone come together to re-build their home. They touched everyone so much and I was so grateful to be able to make their vision come true.
The Details
The house is located at the top of a hill in the center of their family Christmas Tree Farm right here in the rogue valley. The house has so many windows allowing for 360 views and lots of natural light. Hickory cabinets were THE PERFECT choice for the space. I love the way it interacts with the other wood in the home to make it feel just the right amount of cozy.
The island, to me, is THE space. Company bee-lines right to it so it needs to be functional AND durable. The hutch molding around the base of the island creates a bold statement while also being strong enough to resist scuffs and chipping from abuse. It's also one of my personal favorite ways to accent a kitchen. We added some glass uppers so the Mrs. could showcase some of her lovely china and add some extra brightness to the room.
