"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions." - Albert Einstein
Warm Wood tones & Earthy green
Let's face it. Most of us have small kitchens.
On Television, Pinterest, Social Media, etc... large luxurious kitchens are always featured and why wouldn't they be? For designers, it's much easier to design a large space with sleek cabinetry and clean lines... and smaller kitchens usually present different challenges.
Personally, I LOVE a small kitchen. They give you SO much more opportunity to be creative and think outside the box. Which, as a designer, I love any opportunity to do something that is anything but cookie cutter.
"Bold doesn't have to be loud."
You read that right... BOLD doesn't have to be loud, my friends. Bold can be subtle and understated and still give you the "wow" factor without being in your face about it. Just takes a little imagination.
This Project
When these clients came to me they said, "we just don't know what you can do with it. It's small and awkward" --- #CHALLENGEACCEPTED, FRIENDS. I came up with this concept for them.
Knotty Alder with a Cappuccino stain is my absolute favorite from Medallion Cabinetry. It has this warm, cozy feeling to it and it just pairs well with everything!
Next, I always love to add something charming to a small space to add visual interest and that's where the aloe green "hutch" with the glass was born. This was a work space that we wanted to stand out from the rest of the space while still looking like it was an intentional choice.
Color is ALWAYS a good choice!
The warmth of the cappuccino alder complements the medium green paint and the glass accented doors really just set off the "furniture appeal"... this shade can bring out the yellow tones in the wood and balance them with cool contrast. A pale gray-green would also serve the same purpose (and realistically most any color of your choice would be stunning!)
IMAGINATION REALLY IS EVERYTHING.
If you can see it, it can be a reality. I was able to visualize this kitchen for these clients and was able to use the 3D Rendering to be able to show them my vision so they could see it, too.
They saw it. Loved it. & Trusted me enough to be able to make it real for them - and for their trust, I am grateful. Without trust from clients, none of us would ever be given the opportunity to do the things we see in our minds!
I love being able to take a small, dysfunctional space where most people can't even begin to imagine what is possible and make it into something that is desirable and functional. That is absolutely my favorite part of my job. Seeing #opportunity and #possibility in everything.
